The sugar lump house, that's how Anna, Maurits and their three kids call their house, an architectural dream in white brick from 1961 situated close to the sea in the south of Sweden. Inside, the brick walls, the tiled floor and the parquet, as well as the large windows, are all originals and typical for the time period. Having a thing for mid-century design, I would of course love to live in a house like this! I especially like the sober black/white/grey colour scheme in the living room and the way it emphasizes the architecture of the house.

When a Frenchman from Nancy/Paris, with a strong taste for colours and decoration, moves in with a Swedish girl from Stockholm, deeply rooted in the pure Scandinavian aesthetics, compromises will obviously need to be made. The result is a laid-back style mix, where items designed by Jean Prouvé or Achille Castiglioni blend with Gustavian style furniture as well as Finnish design from the 70's.

The Kaalund factory
"The Kaalund factory" is what Danish photographer Pernille Kaalund calls her new photo and film studio in Copenhagen. A former coffee roasting factory with one huge room, large windows and very high ceilings... A dream place really.

Time of the Aquarius a trouvé?
How gorgeous aren't these triangle mobiles in straw that Minna from Time of the Aquarius found? "Himmeli" is the Finnish name for this traditional handicraft in straw that you'll find at Christmas. I would happily leave it up all year round though, if only I had one...

The new print from Therese Sennerholt has found its way into my livingroom, yay! Now I just need to get a frame...

Besides the Therese Sennerholt print, you can also see the lamp that I thrifted in Sweden this summer, a Marimekko fabric that I have stretched on a wooden frame, a small oval frame and three bottles which all have been thrifted in France and in Sweden, the famous eye poster by Olle Eksell in a more recent version sold online by Moderna Muséet, the little wooden duck designed by Kristian S Vedel in 1959, and finally the Hoptimist designed by architecte HG Ehrenreich 1968 - a gift from a friend (merci Céline!).

Kaamos

The hotel is also filled with beautiful photo art in black&white by Scandinavian photographers.

Unfortunately I didn't have time either to test the spa on the top floor, although this whole area looked extremely tempting! On the other hand, I fully enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was huge and divine!
